Gall bladder

After a CT scan it shows a large mass (7X5cm, 5x3inches) on my gall bladder. The doctor is recommending immediate surgery to remove it and check for possible cancer. I have no symptons of any stomach discomfort. I thought the gall bladder was small. Is cancer of the gall bladder common? What should I look out for?

Gallbladder cancer is not a cancer commonly seen.  You should be thankful that you are NOT having any symptoms because usually if you are having symptoms this cancer is already in an advanced state.  Your gallbladder is small, but that is not relevant.

Symptoms:  pain in the right upper portion of the abdomen, nausea, vomiting, weakness, jaundice, fever, chills, poor appetite, skin itching, weight loss.

My recommendation:  Get your gallbladder out as soon as possible and biopsied as the physician has recommended.
