Gynecomastia

Dear Reader,

I am 20 and i hava a problem of gynecomastia.I think I once sow breast was bigger when i was 13 ..I was to much overweight at that time and didnt concern a lot about it cs i seemd to me it was just fat and nothing else...One year later i had a drastical change in weight more than 14 kg i guess(i know this wasnt very cleaver but i had to i was to much overweight).,Well i noticed that the breast size was still big ..well to make this short i continued but not so often exercices to losse weight. Now i am pretty fit got some muscles and i am going to the gym.But breasts are still there ,of corse they arent as big as before,(i think if they shrink just a litle want be noticible because of the muscle to)..

I can notice that my right breast is biger than the left one. Also it seems it have a lump (i dont know realy how to tell if its a lump o no i just know its harder than fat) that is bigger on the right side.I wanted to mention that i have smoked for about 3 to 4 year ago(it may be a cause)...now its 8 month i quit..
Anyway i didnt take any medical advie ..and now i cant because of some buracrital problems (that will be solved soon i gues).
But my answer is is there any non surgical way to get rid of them.??I also sow some research that say that taxomorfine helps prevent them even reduce when breast tissue when it is formed. What can u tell me about this??Does taxomorphine has any side effect??
Is there anything useful i can do now ??

Thank u in advance

Hi,
You have been overweight, and have had fatty breast tissue for several years, which reduces in bulk as you exercise or lose weight. You can also feel some firm tissue in your breast, especially one the right side.
You have correctly deduced that this is gynecomastia. This is a fairly common problem, and usually transient.
You are totally mistaken when you think that some tablets or hormonal preparation may reduce or eliminate this problem. This may be dangerous, and cause harm to your health.
Please sort out your insurance or other administrative issues quickly, so that you may be able to consult a surgeon.
Meanwhile, continue to refrain from smoking. Regular exercise, healthy diet, and maintainance of correct weight will also benefit.
All the best, and God Bless!

Hi , thak u for the replay.
I wanted to confirm that i am not going to take any kind of pills without doctors prescription.
I have one more question about dieting . Now I am following the zone diet .Not really staing to it but following some guidelines.I am more concerned about the % of macronutrient .
Should i use the one that ZONE diet recomands in my special case?
Is there any better diet for my case ??

Hi,
Frankly, I am not a big fan of specific diets or food fads. These rarely seem to work in most of my patients.
What does seem to work is simple common sense approach to healthy eating (low calories, low fats, low meat, lots of fluids, fruits, and vegetables) along with regular excercise.
Good Luck!
