High Lymphocyte Counts

Recent blood tests have shown that my lymphocyte counts are are in the high 40s, i.e. 49 and then 3 months later, 46. A review of my blood work over the past 6 years show that my Lymphocyte counts are always over 40. I understand, from my doctor that the counts are supposed to no higher than 40. I have no other infections or viruses. I'm 46 years old and a woman. I'm scheduled for another CBC test in December, if my counts are still in the high forties, my doctor recommends I get tested by a hemotologist-Oncologist. She says it could be a sign of early leukemia. Are my counts really markedly above the reference range?
