Information on postradiation fat necrosis in my leg

I am seeking basic information about my diagnosis of fat necrosis in my leg .  I was diagnosed with MFH sarcoma in my lower leg and have undergone surgery, MAID chemo and radiation.  6 months post therapy I have developed an red, very sore, slightly thickend 2inch lesion within the radiated area.  My oncologist, after MRI and biopsy diagnosed it as fat necrosis.  The only information I have gotten from my 5 different doctors besided the wonderful diagnosis of "not cancer- is fat necrosis" is that it may take a "long time to resolve".  In the meantime its painful and a constant reminder of my cancer diagnosis.  Just looking for more info like:  Does it always resolve without treatment? Is there no treatment?  Is it possible I will need another surgery to get rid of it?  What exactly do they mean by "long time to resolve?"  The only info I can find referrs to breast cancer!

I can only speak to what I know about necrosis after surgery for breast cancer. Everyone I know who had necrosis after breast reconstruction is typically removed surgically.
