Liver Hemangiomas size?

Folowing pain on side and rear uper abdomin when laying down, a CAT scan has reveled a Hemangiomas in the liver.  Bile ducts, gallbladder, pancrease, kidneys all OK. No bone lesions.  I read on the www that about 5% of males have this and normally it requires no treatment, but if large removal can be considered. But what is regarded as large?  Mine is 80mm.  I am 60, heathly and active.  Is 80mm time to think about removal?

I would also like to ask if this condition can be the cause or contibute to ED ?

3 days back i got my ultrasound of upper abdominal because i was suffereing from Hepatitis A and jundice for last 8 days. By chance my ultrasound shows 3.7 x 3.5 cms well defined hyperechoic lesion with posterior enhancement seen in right lobe of liver inferiorly. No intra hepatic biliary radicals dilation seen. Gall bladder appears contracted. No pericholecytic collection noted.

Ultrasound Impression: study findings are suggestive of inflammatory changes in gall bladder? due to hepatitis.
focal lesion is noted in right lobe of liver? hemangioma.

There is no pain on this lesion area but on treatment of hepatitis-A and jundice it was dicovered.

What should i do? What further tests i need and do i need any treatment for this 3.7x3.5cms of lesion? I am already under special diet for jundice treatment. My last bilurbin was 8 which was 4 days back and second test is going to be in few days for second lever function test.

I am more worried about this lesion, it is hemangioma, if so what should i do ?

I am 35 years old male from india

Thanks

Hi Mike,
As you mentioned, a liver hemangioma is a common condition often found in normal population. It need not be removed unless it causes symptoms or is very large.
About your question "how large is large", there is no clear consensus on this issue. Since you say that you are "healthy and active", maybe your gastroenterologist would like to keep you under observation, and not operate at this time.
Liver hemangiomas have no direct association with erectile dysfunction.
