Lump in neck

Hi there. I have a lump, possibly a swollen gland on the left side of my neck, close to the jaw. According to the charts it looks like the jugulodigastric node and is right on top of the jugular. My best guess to size is just over a half inch. It isn't tender, just swollen. I just quit smoking and I'm 24 years old. I'm not sure how long it has been there, though I suspect its been a while (been monitoring it for a week now). I don't have any other symptoms that I'm aware of.

Sounds like cancer?

Yeah, thank you for the advice. I went to the doctor yesterday for the first time in five years. He pretended to be unconcerned as he ordered an X-Ray and ultrasound, then mentioned he may need a biopsy and CT next week. Great.

Just a suggestion brother, try medical marijuana. I owned a dispensary for three years and saw the most amazing changes in quality of life within cancer patients. It really was heartwarming to see chemo patients gain weight every week. It may not replace the fentanyl but it will easily cut it in half and allow you to sleep.

I would insist the doctor do an ultrasound and biopsy. I had a small knot on the lower left side of my neck. Doctors kept telling me not to worry was probably a swollen lymph node. After both of my parents & all my grandparents dying of cancer, I insisted my doctor check it out. You guessed it....thyroid cancer. Ten years I had this knot & doctors kept blowing it off. Had to have my thyroid & 22 lymph nodes, of which 7 were malignate removed. They also did severe nerve damage to my neck during surgery which I have been battling for 3 years now. Then the genuis's put me on 100mgs of fentanyl every 48 hours which I am now being weened off of . The withdrawls are horrible! Feels like the flu 100 times over! Hot & cold flashes, heart paputations, Just undescribable pain all over. Can't get comfortable, can't sleep. My pain doctor tells me it will take 8 weeks to get over this. Just started this past Wednesday! Got a long way to go, but once I get ther, I will NEVER use opids again. I don't care how much pain I am in. Not trying to scare you, just would not wish any of this on anyone. If they had caught the cancer those years ago, I would not be going throgh all this. Good luck & please insist they check it out.
