Lymphoma.. or something else?

Lymphoma.. or something else?

Hi - I'm a 27yr old male. I've recently seen a my general practitioner for a supraclavicular node enlargement on my right side. I am being sent for blood tests, an MRI of my brain, and a chest CT scan. My doctor told me two things could possibly be causing this enlargement - an infection and cancer. I've had a few different ailments over the past couple of years and I'm wondering if these could be associated.

Here's a rundown -

Almost two years ago I had random spells of acute pain in my left groin area which would last for about 5-10 minutes at a time. The pain was crippling. I saw my doctor at the time and the pain was inconclusive, however a hydrocele was found that I was told wouldn't be the cause of the pain. A year had passed and I hadn't had another episode.

Since then I have suffered from migraine headaches off and on. About a month ago I began having neck soreness and developed a mild headache that has remained with me until this day (base of skull/neck) that sometimes increases in pain.

I have also been experiencing pretty intense anxiety, possibly even mild depression.

Several months ago I was diagnosed with HSV2 which doesn't seem to cause too many issues, and recently I was diagnosed with Chlamydia. About a week ago I took Azythromicin (500mg x2) for the Chlamydia and seemed to have an allergic reaction to it (hives on arms, side, thigh that were extremely itchy). I have never had any allergies before and took benadryl to relieve the symptoms. A few days later I noticed a lump above my right clavicle. I went to see my doctor who told me it was an enlarged lymph node.

Could there be any relation to any of my other symptoms?

My doctor asked about night sweats, which I have from time to time, and fevers which I can't say I've had or not had for certain.

Right now I have mild achy groin pain, achy head/neck pain, a swollen supraclavicular lymph node, I'm fatigued, and have occasional diarrhea.

Any thoughts doctors?

Hi there!

Well, this would certainly require further evaluation. This could represent chronic infection/ inflammation or malignancies of the lung, chest GI, hodgkin’s etc. Fever could be a feature of both while the pattern of fever may give some information. Night sweats could occur in chronic granulomatous infections as well as malignancies. The headaches may or may not be related. The other symptoms are vague and not specific for either. I would suggest following the investigational plan suggested by your doctor till a specific diagnosis can be made, after which a management plan can be chalked out.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
