Ovarian Cyst

I had a MRI for low back pain and a cystic lesion of the right adnexa showed up. It measures 4.8 X 3.6 x 3.6 cm. They insist I get an ultrasound immediately. Should I be worried?

From what I've been able to find, it means you have a cyst that contains fluid that is not clear in the pelvic region near the ovaries and fallopian tubes.

Most of these are benign but can cause a great deal of discomfort. Treatment may include hormone therapy or surgery to remove the cyst.

Cyclic cysts generally are not treated until they are greater tan 4 cm. You gyn doctor should give you more information about treatment options based on how it looks in an ultrasound. There's not much to know until they do that.
