Hi, pls could you let me know your age and whether you still have your gall bladder and a littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummys more on your IBS symptoms and experiences.
I am 37 years of age, but have had a history of severe abdominal bouts, which hit me like a ton of bricks and disappear as soon as they have done their bit of destruction.
At 29yrs, I had my gall bladder removed (no prior abdominal pain since the age of 18yrs old) - Age 32, glandular feverAllergic rhinitis Coccidioidomycosis Febrile seizures Fever Fever blister Fever blisters and canker sores Herpes labialis (oral herpes simplex) Histoplasmosis Malaria Rheumatic fever Scarlet fever, still pain free on the abdominal side. Then at the age 36 Mar 06, severe abdominal pain. Severe attacks of cramping/vomiting/diareah - lasting 24 - 72 hours - absolute wreck, leaving me feeling like I have been disembowelled (6 attacks all through 2006). In July 06 they prepped me for surgery, thinking it was a burst appendixAppendectomy - NO APPENDIXAppendectomy FOUND. Had the works in x-rays, CTs & scopes - all clear (although loads of white blood cells fighting an infection, but from where - who knows?) I am now being treated for IBS by a GP as I felt the Gastro specialist is too procedurally inclined (next is eploratory surgery!). I have too many other symptoms to just concentrate on the gut. (swallowing difficulties, gnawing pain in my legs, like the muscles are being eaten, tired to the point of falling asleep whilst driving, chest pains and more).
Getting back to your question - I am a very strong believer that IBS/IBD, lack of gall bladder could definitely contribute to pancreatic cancer, but the Drs are not saying anything! and the fact that I am left 'undiagnosed' is not so comforting. Yes, since the removal of my gallbladder - fatty foods are a no no. Alcohol gives me pains in the pacreatic and Liver area. Write and let me know. Thanks
I just wanted to add to this thread. I had my gallbladder removed in 2002, and five years later I still suffer from what I believe is Dumping Syndrome.
After I eat, my food goes right through me. Lately I have noticed some blood and with the gnawing in my stomach, I believe I may have a peptic ulcer. I remember a doctor telling me when I was much younger, before my gallbladder was removed, that I had symptoms of a peptic ulcer.
My mother has suffered with irritable bowel symptoms. She has her gallbladder. She also seems to have attacks that remind me of my gallbladder attacks.
My grandmother died of pancreatic cancer.
My symptoms are debilitating at times. It is hard to keep a 9 to 5 job because of the symptoms, however, I am a stay at home mom and wife for now. But I do want to go back to work, and this is something I need to get under control first.
With my mother's history and my grandmother's history, I am going to definitely let my doctor know of my symptoms so we can keep an eye on MY pancreas!
