How are you? What other symptoms are present? An epidermal nevus is a benign patch of skin seen at birth or develop in early childhood caused by an overgrowth of skin cells which can be be flat, tan patches of skin or raised, velvety patches. It can become thicker and darker and develop a wart-like appearance. If there are other symptoms present like itchiness, presence of ulcer and other skin lesions, it is best that you have this checked by your doctor to rule out infection as well as epidermal nevus syndrome, which consists of extensive epidermal nevi with abnormalities of the CNS, skeleton, skin, cardiovascular system, genitourinary system, and eyes. Direct clinical examination and additional diagnostic tests may be done. Take care and do keep us posted.
