Would you please tell me what is your opinion about this skin biopsy report:

Tro mycosis/fungoides

----

TISSUES
Skin biopsy.

GROSS DESCRIPTION
Specimen labeled - Soft tissue
The specimen consists of a piece of skin tissue measuring 3 mm. Submitted entirely into 1 block.

MICROSCOPIC DESCRIPTION
The skin shows parakeratosis, and a psoriasiform hyperplasia. There is marked acanthosis, and suprabasal thinning, associated with telangiectasia of the dermal capillaries. A mild lymphocytic infiltrate is noted at the dermoepidermal junction, around upper dermal vessels and within the epidermis. These lymphocytes apear histologically benign. Focal keratinocyte necrosis is noted. Polymorphs and intraepidermal microabscesses are not seen. Organisms are not seen.

DIAGNOSIS
Lesion from upper back
Psoriasiform hyperplasia with lymphocytic infiltrate.

Comment:
The differentials include psoriasis and early mycosis. Immunohistochemical studies may be useful to exclude the latter.

(END OF REPORT)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

My problem is that just 10 days after the biopsy, my skin was completely normal and it was healed -without use of any medicine-. All I did was stop scratching the area. But the biopsy report says the diagnosis " include psoriasis and early mycosis", as far as I know "mycosis" is some kind of skin (or skin-related?) cancer.

I'm a little confused since my skin went back to normal when I stopped scratching it, without any treatments and on the other hand biopsy report talks about "psoriasis and early mycosis" AND after 3 months my doctor still keeps giving me different medicine every two weeks. I can't trust him because he doesn't answer ANY of my questions.

It has been 3 months since my skin is completely back to normal and again, he gave me another medicine, CO-TRIMOXAZOLE 480 mg, 2 times a day, for one month. Why should I take antibiotics, for one month, when my skin is normal?

So in short words, what is your opinion about my situation?

Thanks a lot for your time.

Mycosis has NOTHING to do with cancer in regards to your report; it is related to fungal growth, NOT CANCER.  Psoriasis is commonly linked with fungus and can be stubborn to treat, so that maybe why you are getting treated with so many different medications.  I am not sure why he is giving you a medication to take when there is no problem at this time.

Secondly, why keep going back to someone who you feel is not addressing your questions, you don't trust, etc.?  Do you have to go to him?  If you don't, find someone you are comfortable with; who you can trust their judgement and treatment.
