Spindle Cell Sarcoma (multiple) of the lungs -- zeolite AHCC any suggestions for help??

My 81 yr old father was diagnosed with Spindle Cell Sarcoma back in June.  At the time, it was a large tumor in his upper thigh.  He was treated with 25 days of radiation, and then surgery was performed to remove it.  That appears to be successful, but it spread to his lungs...read on.  At the same time, it was noted that he had a nodule on one lung that was "too small to even worry about".  After the surgery on the leg tumor, scans showed the nodule on the lung had grown and there were more of them.  He then began a total of 4 weeks of chemo (Gemzar, administered by IV) which had ZERO impact on the nodules on his lungs.  Then he has now just completed another chemo:  3 weeks of 160mg Temodar taken orally, daily--and it has had devastating results on his health.   His doctor informed him today that there was no need to continue the chemo treatments (they were going to move to Doxil if this didn't help) as there is really nothing more they can do.   They just started hospice care today.

Does anyone have any alternative treatments to suggest?  Is sarcoma something that just cannot be cured?  We want to try AHCC (ImmPower capsules) and Liquid Zeolite and maybe even Avemar if he can tolerate the taste.  Does anyone have experience with any of these with regard to success, failure, side effects, abnormal reactions, etc.?  I have seen one post that says zeolites can be dangerous.  Why would that be the case?

Anyone that has any help here, please, please respond.  In the current state he is in, I don't know how much more he can take before he is gone.  Thank you so much for your time!

Hi.  I'm really sorry to hear about your father's condition.  Unfortunately, sarcomas which have spread to the lungs are very hard to treat.  If your father's lung nodules are not too large and not too numerous, he may benefit from excision (called metastasectomy) of these lung lesions, followed by chemotherapy.

It is always your choice if you want to try alternative treatments.  But personally, I cannot recommend the ones you mentioned (AHCC, Zeolite and Avemar).  These treatments have not been stringently tested in randomized clinical trials so their claimed efficacy is suspect.  If you visit the websites of these products, you will find the statement "...sold as a health supplement and not a drug; therefore no medicinal claims can be made by those selling it" or something like it, which means that no claims of effectiveness are being made for the product - we take them at our own risk.
