Subtle increase in bone marrow

I recently received an MRI for my right thigh area.  The results stated a subtle increase in bone marrow signal on T2-weighted fat-suppressed imaging which may indicate low-grade bone marrow edema.  My dr wants me to schedule a PET/radionuclear bone scan.  What are they looking for....I have always been in good health for my age of 52...trying to rule out cancer I guess.  I feel fine and no health issued except taking blood pressure medicine.  Can you help me understand the conclusion of the MRI

Yesterday, the doctor stated it is a bone scan instead ....I haven't been sick except for the occassional flu in 50 years...so this is a challenge for me to deal with.  The only time I have been in the hospital was for the birth of my 3 kids and to visit others.  The only medication I have been on is my current blood pressure pills.  The doctor did mention something about rulling out cancer

hey ! im not a doctor but PET scans will usually show if there is any tumor activity going on. They may not be necesarily looking for that but it is a better study to define whats going on. I suggest you do the exam and just wait for your doctors to see it !
