I had a mammogram and ultrasound on Monday, and they found a lump in my left breast that is suspicious. It is 8 mm in size, and the radiologist said that there was "vascularity" which I am told means that there is a blood supply to it. In addition, my lymph nodes under both arms are sore. They have scheduled me for a needle biopsy on Friday. My question is whether a benign lump would have a vascularity. I have been searching the internet, but am not really finding much information on this. Any information would be appreciated.
Hi,
Radiologists report mammograms using a uniform system called the BIRADS. Do you know what your BIRADS score was? Vascularity by itself noither suggests nor rules out breast cancer. Features suggestive of cancer are indistinct, spiculated margins, architectural distortion, calcification, etc.
A biopsy would really help clarify matters.
All the best, and God Bless!
