Swollen Lymph Nodes

by DebraT, Aug 21, 2007 01:12AM
I have had a swollen lymph gland in my groin for almost 10 years now. It was about the size of a pea up until about a year ago. Now it is about the size of a small grape. My doctor has told me that it is nothing to worry about, but I guess my question is this...is it safe to assume that this would not be cancer since it has been there for so many years? Is it common for a gland to be swollen for this long? I would really appreciate any opinions in this matter. Thanks.

I am wondering the same thing, i have had a swollen lymph node in my right groin area for over a year, it is small but i still scares me, also now i keep feeling around there for other abnormalities and i keep thinking i feel other tiny swollen nodes but i'm not sure, my doctor also said not to worry but i want to know why it is swollen like that, he said it could be because of an infection but i don't see what kind of infection i could have, i am trying to decide if i should try to investigate further with another doctor or if they will tell me the same.  I don't really have any advice but i am in the same boat
