What does it mean when test results are taking longer than expected?

I had a bone marrow biopsy two weeks ago and they said the results would be back in under a week. They didn't tell me to call, they just said they'd update my health portal when the results came in.
Does taking longer than normal mean that things are probably good and that they have just put it on the back burner for more serious patients? Or is it a little unusual and means the doc needs more time to interpret?
Not asking for specifics, just generalized ideas if this is normal or not, I am nervous and am grasping at straws!
Thanks!
