can resection speed cancer growth?

Today I was given the results of my colonoscopy. One polyp was cancerous. I was told that because of my age, (57) I should have a resection. The doctor said the polyp was very small which suggests that the cancer could be fast growing. He said that he could not guarantee that removal of the polyp removed all the cancer.  I'm wondering if I should just leave well enough alone and hope for the best.

Thanks

Hi.

If the cancer is indeed fast-growing, deciding not to do a resection might lead to worsening of your condition as well as possible spread to other tissues.

It might be best to follow your surgeons advice.

Good luck.
