cancer treatment information wanted

what kind of radiation treatment would only be given one time to a patient and then isolate them for five to seven days from any person to person contact due to the radiation treatment.  Had cancer in throat/thyroid? Surgery was done, but cancer has spread,Advising that cancer was detected early enough that they are suggesting this kind of treatment to my friend. Would like to know everything about this subject please. Also this is second hand info so i dont know exactly what kind of cancer,exactly if it was throat or thyroid but i do know that it has spread and this is the option they have given to a mother of two children who is only in her late 20's. thasnk you for any kind of info you can give to me on this matter.

My bf has just completed a course of chemo and radiation for his neck ... Throat depending where it is exactly can also be included in head and neck cancers too . He had radiation daily for a matter of months and 4 sessions of chemo , not just the once .

Perhaps it may be better if you find out exactly where the cancer is and how far it has spread .
