Thank you for your response. I forgot to add that I'm 51 and most likely going thru menopause.
Hi!
It is difficult to say whether the bleeding is due to cancer or not—be it endometrial or otherwise. It would be great if you could schedule the ultrasound earlier. Yes, there are cases where cancer is missed on first ultrasound/biopsy. However, apart from cancer, bleeding between periods can be due to several other causes which are more common. Two most common causes of spotting between periods are pregnancy and birth control pills. Other causes are hypothyroidism, cervical dysplasia, cervical polyps, cervicitis (infection/inflammation of cervix), vaginitis (infection/inflammation of vagina), cervical and uterine cancer, uterine fibroids, hormonal imbalance as in polycystic disease of the ovary, use of blood thinners, genital ulcers, STDs and stress.
Since I cannot examine you and know other related conditions you may be having, nor is a detailed history possible on net, I have listed the various possibilities that should be looked into. Please consult your gynecologist for an earlier evaluation.
Take care!
