endometrial thickening

by Leemae, Aug 31, 2009 06:33PM
I am 37 years old. I recently had a trans vaginal US they found a "possible" submucosal Fibroid and my endometrial stripe is thickening. I am  scheduled to have a D& C and a Hysteroscopy. Everything I have found regarding Endometrial Thickening has to do with women over the age of 45 or so ( post menopause or almost in to menopause) most everything I have read seems to be normal ...yet concerning but not too concerning. I am worried that at my age I should be concerned with this. Should I be?

SUBMUCOSAL FIBROIDS USUALLY GROW INTO THE ENDOMETRIAL SPACE AND THIS IS WHERE THE FETUS ALSO LIES WHEN YOU ARE PREGNANT. THE PRESENCE OF A FIBROID CAN ALSO STIMULATE THIS LINING AND CAUSE IT TO THICKEN WITH SUBSEQUENT INTERMITTENT OR HEAVY BLEEDING DURING YOUR PERIODS. THE FIBROID MUST BE REMOVED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
