enlarged thyroid & breast cancer
2 weeks after i fell & hit my head in 2005 the doctor found an enlarged thyroid on right lobe. on 5/05 FNA & US showed it to be a 3 cm benign mass that was solid & mainly cystic, & it was drained. on 11/06 fluid was again removed from what dr. called a complex thyroid nodule. in 2/07 i had invasive & in situ ductal cancer in right breast removed. because of the breast cancer should i get the enlarged thyroid checked out again? like with another US & FNA? should i be seeing a thyroid doctor that specializes in thyroid cancer? I know there is a connection between melanoma & breast cancer, is there a connection w/ breast cancer & an enlarged thyroid? thanks!
There is some connection between breast cancer and thyroid cancer. I actually think there is a study going on right now.
