esophageal cancer

My husband had stage 11 esophageal surgery 6 weeks ago. he is doing well except he is not gaining ANY weight. He eats wonderfully and is hungry alot.
We give him high calorie foods plus good healthy nutritios foods. Also his stool is yellow and very soft. We wonder if he is getting malnurished for some reason. please help
