initial oncologist visit

by KSafe, Jul 20, 2009 03:49PM
A person learns at his late-afternoon general checkup with his PCP that he probably has some form of leukemia.  The symptoms that prompted him to go were extreme tiredness and a few nosebleeds.  Could this person wait until the next morning to see an oncologist, or would he have to go to the hospital immediately?

Hi,
It is better to go to the ER right away. Nose bleeds could signify low platelet counts. It is best if you are in a hospital for evaluation and urgent replacement of blood components if required. After stabilization, a detailed workup may be done.
All the best, and God Bless!
