needle localisation

Needing a needle localisation left breast biopsy and told may require a left axillary clearance as well. Is this normal? Are they usually done in one operation?

Hi,
Do you already have a firm diagnosis? Needle/wire localization and biopsy is usually done for diagnosis. Axillary clearance is done for node positive breast cancer.
Please discuss with your radiologist and surgeon to clarify matters.
All the best, and God Bless!
