painful, swollen lymph node

by yummymummy77, Apr 09, 2009 06:38PM
Hi there,

I have recently developed a painful swollen lymph node on the left side of my neck. I haven't had any obvious infection, and am even taking two antibiotics at the same time for a couple of gynae issues (related to my CS site from 5 years ago and cervical erosion). I am not sure why this would develop all of a sudden. Over the past 3 months I have lost 16 lbs without diet or exercise and am always feeling tired. As I was having excessive bleeding during my periods I went to my gynae who carried out several tests including full bloods, thyroid function, Mammogram, internal ultrasound- everything came back within range, she couldn't explain the weightloss. She did however put me on antibiotics for the fluid (infection) behind the C-Section scar. It's during this treatment (around day 6 out of 7 for the course) that the lymph node developed. It's quite swollen and it's definitely painful. My gynae gave me the all clear and recommended I see an internal medicine doctor. I'm getting worried now, as I have a cousin who is undergoing treatment for Hogkins Lymphoma- could this swollen lymph node be something serious, and what kind of tests would you recommend for me to get done?

Thanks

Your symptoms are symptoms of leukemia or it ca be any other less serious issue but as what I have been reading on the net these are symptoms of leukemia but i am not trying to scare you . Soit is better that you go to a doctor to do some blood tests

Hope you get better soon.
