Hi.  The chances of transitional cell carcinoma recurring depends on several factors such as the age of the patient at the time of surgery, the stage, grade and tissue type (histology) of the cancer.  The International Bladder Cancer Nomogram Consortium developed a very reliable tool for predicting recurrence of cancer after bladder surgery.  The tool is a nomogram, which is a graph where you can plot a particular patient's set of factors, then come up with a probability of recurrence in 5 years.  You can look it up through this link: http://jco.ascopubs.org/cgi/reprint/JCO.2005.05.3884v1
