surviving 2 cancers

by Bette_Boop, Aug 30, 2007 10:33PM
I was wondering if someone who had colon cancer first, and just found out they had liver cancer, if their chance for recovery is good or not? My 62 yr old father just found out and we have'nt even spoken to the Dr.s yet!

My father had colon cancer some 30 yrs ago.  He wasn't operated on until he collapsed, and the surgeon found during surgery the cancer had metastasised to his liver. In those days there was no chemotherapy, or perhaps the situation was too far gone for surgery, and they just sewed him up. He died a month later in hospital. Today however, medical treatments have come a long way, and your father's condition may not be as serious as my Dad's. Best wait and talk to his doctors as to what can be done.

Take care,
Liz.
