I also have playe and screw and was diagnosed with leukemia, how did thing work out for you ? Please reply
I wouldn't be a bit surprised! Metal plates within the body release minute particles that travel within the lymph and blood and end up lodging in our organs and eventually cause damage...some people are more sensitive than others. Just lost my super fit & healthy 47 year old sister to cancer and she had a titanium plate on her ankle for at least 7 years...from my readings I ama more & more convinced that the titanium destroyed her; her liver was super destroyed and she always lived a super clean life without drugs, alcohol or junk food...
My husband had a titanium pole put in a tooth after a root canal procedure and six momths later he had night sweats and an elevated white count. He has been diagnosed with myloid leukemia.
I came up with an elevated white count in 2009. Doctor kept rechecking it several times, still elevated. Had a blood count in 2007 that was normal. Meanwhile I moved, went to a different doctor in 2010, white count still elevated. He told me that the insurance co. wanted me to ask him if I had ever had an implant like knee implant. I said no, but then all of a sudden it dawned on me that I had a titanium tooth implant in 2008. Elevated white count showed up in 2009. The current doctor suggested to keep watching it as it has not gone higher.

I did a little google research. The more research I did the more plausible your concerns appear. What you have to do is to contact the F.D.A. They have a form to report possible adverse effects of implantable items. Don't be put off by them. Insist on making a formal report of the incident, which your physician, incidentally was mandated to do by law when you posed the question. Hey, what's a few laws when your dealing with a potential malpractice suit? In such a case the physicians often treat patients like mushrooms. Keep them in the dark and feed them b u l l you-know-what.The F.D.A. has a secret database they don't share with the public (Shhhhhhhh...) and you may find others have had the problem. That is NOT to say the implant is the cause of your abnotmalities, but in my insignificant opinion cannot at this point be ruled out.
A very interesting question. Titanium has a record of being relatively neutral, however the implants are generally alloys. At first hand I tended to dismiss your concerns as paranoia, however I would track down the manufacturer of the plate, and determine the composition. Your suspicians are unlikely, but not unreasonable.
I never heard of a connection with Titanium and Leukemia. Is this a plate that you have had implanted permanently? People get plates put in all the time, especially for broken hips. If your blood work is out of range, then you should see a Oncologist/hematologist so they can determine the cause. Did your doctor say they thought it was a possible Leukemia due to the high WBC? Don't assume anything until you are evaluated further.
Take Care. I do have Leukemia since 1998, and I have been in remission for 7 years now. Take one step at a time.
