by Arusum, Jun 05, 2008 02:30PM
Hi,
My mother suffered from artrial fibilation attack 6 months back and after the test we found she has Diastolic concentric left ventricular dysfunction phase 3. She is overweight and i want to know what type of exercise she can do inorder to reduce weight. I would also like to know other dos and donts please. Her blood preasure rises if she eats spicy food or fat containing food. She also has short breathing problem.Specially when she exercises she is too much short of breath and it takes time in settling it down.Kindly guide me how to help her recover and maintain good cardiac health as much as it is possible. Is there a chance of recovery of any sort?
Thank you

How overweight? She needs to begin gradually with 20 minutes of walking per day. and increase over time. Her diet should be low in saturated fat <20 gms day and total fat <50 gms day. She should eliminate red meat, whole milk and increase her fruit and vegetable and fiber intake.

Hi, thank you for replying,
she is 70kg in weight.
kindly tell me how to help her breathing get better,as she has short inhaling and exhaling in normal conditions.
Second, guide me whether aerobic exercises or cardio exercises are good for her or should she avoid such actvities in which she is out of breath?
will her heart condition get better or recover if exercise and appropriate diet is taken ?
Thankyou.
