Elarged Aorta & Left Ventricular

by Rigil, Jun 10, 2008 05:57AM
30/5/08.  Ultrasound showed Enlarged Aorta  4.3cm and enlarged Left Ventricular.  Cardiologist can't believe I don't suffer from High blood pressure.  No symptons.  I am 46, 185cm, 92kg and exercise at the Gym 5 days a week.  At consult Bp 120/90 & Heart rate 54.  Never had high blood pressure.  At time of consult I was taking 100mg cartia, 20mg Dexamphetamine for ADHD 30mg Imdur Dureles non- angina treatment and 40mg Pravachol.  Had MRI  8mths ago showed lesions & hyperintensity matter to frontal lobe of brain, no head injury, blood flow restriction to right side of brain. Family history of premature death from Heart attack and Stroke.  Meds were precautionary to prevent stroke.  Cardiologist told me to stop taking Imdur because it may mask heart symptoms and did.  Stress test and Echocardiograph four days later.  My performance on stress test was at the mean average of 30yr old males.  No back or chest pains but asked if I could stop bnecause my lower legs were painful and aching, reached 185 heart rate.  During Echocardiograph the technician was commenting that this isn't right and that is abnormal.  I was rather light headed for 10 minutes after stress test.  At the consult the Cardiologist gave me no reason for the enlargements, but stated the my heart shape was abnormal, possibly inside, not sure, got somewhat lost.  He stated he wasn't concerned because it returned its original shape prior to the stress test.  Told me to keep taking Cartia,Pravachol and dexamphetamine.  He did say we could be aggressive with the Cholesterol which was 4.3 with lots of good fats.  I asked him why when I have no plaquing evident.  He said, true, see me in twelve months.  Since stopping the Imdur and the Stress test my chest has felt tight and a dull ache in the middle.  It originally started at night and was gone by the morning, but know the it is continual.  Yours Thankfully,
Brian(Married with two children)
