here is a link ta AARP

http://www.aarp.org/family/caregiving/articles/state-by-state_long-term.html

it is a chart for state by state long term health care costs...

the site also has lots of other information...

i am currently walking into the situation of how to care for y dad...his wife has incurable cancer...it came back after years of being in remission...she is very worried bout my dads care..so i am flying to see them and assess the situation..i am scared and honestly lost...i have not even the foggiest of where to begin...i am currently researching what i can...

any input from the board would be great...like support services...experiences...where to start...etc.

i hope the chart helps give you a basic idea...

Hi
here are several studies that are available about costs that may be of assistance to you.

There are several things that you need to put into place to get started. It is important that a power of attorney of healthcare and one over finances be put into place.

It will also be important to get an advanced directive in place. The easiest and most comprehensive and holistic approach for an advanced directive is five wishes. You can order it online. It is only $5 for one and it is priceless to have in place. When ordering you should have one for everyone over 18 in your family.

i do not know your dad's condition or what the situation is for his living arrangements. If he is at home and requires some care at this point in time? or is he independant ?

there are steps you can take. Give me more information and I will try to give you feedback into some other steps you can take.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. This is a difficult and emotional time for you. Just take a deep breath and don't hurry and make decisions under duress. take your time to get things in place that is right for all involved.

Check out www.ourparents.com they have a system, at no cost to you that will allow you to determine finances and programs in your area that are within your budget. I hope that this helps.
