2 year old cat pooping on bed

Male cat started pooping on the owners and son's beds when a dog was purchased, he continued to do so off and on every couple of months. Owner decided to give the cat away, has gone to a loving home of a lady who had lost her cat 5 months before. The cat was fine at first, after 1 month he pooped on her bed and again the next month; does anyone know why this cat would continue to do this even after he was taken out of the home he wasn't happy in.

litter is very clean and scooped sometime twice a day....
location is not in a different location
no change in the litter being used...

has not been to the Vet......

well this can be complex....could be a medical issue, has this kitty had a Vet check lately?

- what kind of litter is being used, has the type or brand been changed?
-the location different?
-is the litter box cleaned/scooped out everyday?

cats are real particular about their litter....has the location of the box been moved?

try using at least two boxes in different locations....
