2.5 year old Cat is vomiting white foam on and off

Hi everyone
I'm really getting scared about my Tabby cat Marty. He is a literal rescue cat who was found in the aggermath of hurricane sandy and grew up very healthy. Vaccines and all and is a huge sweetie. Normally Marty eats and drinks regularly and spends time chasing his sister Luna around...But about a week ago started puking up white foam. Didn't think much of it but then he started doing it repeatedly while not touching food or drink. Then it turned into a yellow color. We started force feeding him and forcing him to drink with a syringe and were obvious worried. Then we were gonna take him to th vet.  But then 2 days later he started acting like himself. Just needed some convincing to eat again. Assumed it was a little stomach bug.

Now a week later and he was fine up til this evening. He's trying to be himself and is trying to join us on the bed (more himself than the last time) but he just ends up leaving and throwing up again. Not to mention it smells so bad. Like rotten fish. Obviously it's something. But I don't get why it would come back again. Not to mention around the same time as last wkd...Please help :((((

I'd ask the vet to do an X-ray or barium X-ray.  He could have an obstruction in his stomach or intestines.  My friend's cat once ate a piece of surgical tubing, and it went down his tubes but caused the kind of symptoms you are describing.

Hey there and welcome to the forum...

Marty absolutely needs to be seen by your vet ASAP.  All we can do is *guess* what's wrong.  This could be kidney disease, liver disease or hyperthyroidism.  This could also be something minor.

It's great you're assist feeding.  Very important.  You don't want Marty going more than 48 hrs w/o food or water, as this can develop into Fatty Liver quickly.

I implore you to make an appt to see your vet tomorrow.

Please keep us updated.  We care!
