Miss Teia Honey came to stay with us on 2 June 2009. She was 10 1/2, a former feral kitten rescued by her previous people from the street at about 6 months of age. They gave her a safe place to stay, food, water, a clean scratch box and yearly well-kitty visits to the vet. They let her alone, never really socialized her.
She hated other cats and did not really like people either. We were unwilling to accept that she could not be reached.
When we first brought her home, she hid behind the commode in our master bath, progressed to hiding under the head of the bed in our guest room, then the closet in there...developed a routine where she did come out and about a bit after a year or so...started eating meals with Hildiekatt...learned that other kitties and people could be trusted...her territory expanded to both the guest and master bedrooms, would very occasionally come down the hall to my office, once in a great while, almost to the living room.
Now, her favorite spot is on the rug by the door to Outside. Miss T likes to go Outside and has discovered the goodness of chewing grass. She and Hildiekatt share the sunroom and kitchen as their primary territory.
Oh, when she first came to us, dry food was the only thing she'd eat. Now, 90% of her diet is wet food.
Looking forward to having a house once again with a yard where Ican fence in an exercise area for the girls.
aww our sweet miss Teia, I feel like we've helped raise her these past few years with your frequent tales an updates....she is a dear sweet little girl and we all love her here...
a house and yard would be just grand for you all to enjoy...soon I hope:)
Awww she has come a long way!! Thanks for the updates! I look forward to them. She looks very content these days! What a lucky kitty to have you as her daddy!! Thanks so much for posting this
That is so wonderful. She has bonded so well with you. I have read the posts about Teia over the time frame. She seems to have taken well to the move, too. She doesn't seem to be acting like a feral cat so much any more.
Shoot, I missed this initially. Happy Belated Anniversary to Missy T!
Btw, I spoke with Staci (Spirit3) a few days ago. She's been unable to get an Internet signal, but said to say hello to you. She's been gone a while, so when I mentioned Teia, she said "the kitty under the bed, right?". I told her those days were Long over, and she had progressed to going outdoors, as well as socializing with Hildie. She was Very excited to hear the news!
Jade's adoption date is April 24th, 2006. Amazed it's been 7yrs. We have no idea how old she really is. Could be as 'young' as 12, or as old as 16. I wish we knew.
