6 month kitten sick

6 month kitten sick

My almost 6 month old kitten is sick. He won't eat, threw up 2 times yesterday, and had diarrhea. I can't afford to take him to a vet, or I would. He got skinny since yesterday. The last time he ate was yesterday morning, so he's gone without food & water for about probably 18 hours. Before I noticed he threw up yesterday, he had no signs of being sick. I know he has not eaten any poison or spoiled food. He does not have worms. What can I do at home, or an over the counter remedy to help him?

you have to get some fluids into him, I would buy infant pedialyte RIGHT NOW tonight. tomorrow will be to late, this is to rehydrate him after the loss of fluids from vomiting and diarrhea....you will need an enfant medication syringe that you can also buy at a pharmacy, it will be marked in cc'c
Mix the pedialyte 50/50 with water and give him some SLOWLY in the corner of the mouth back by the back teeth...give him abt 2 cc's every hour or so..for a few hours. and also some baby food( full plain meat like chicken) that you can also liquify and give him with the same dropper, he MUST have food and best if its before a 24 hr period has elapsed otherwise cats go into a condition called Hepatic Lipidosis.
give him this food slowly too and be sure he swallows well or he can inhale(aspirate) into is lungs and get pneumonia.

I will send you some links with more detailed instructions......be sure to get this for your kitty immediately, 18 hrs has already been a long time for him...best of luck, keep us updated please♥

heres a very short video that demonstrates how to give a cat medication via a syringe....you would follow the exact same procedure if giving fluids or wet food....so watch this first before trying...not hard just need to know how. good luck.

I had a young cat who stopped eating a few years ago. The nausea from being hungy ended up making him refuse to eat. We made him eat honey (put it on his paw so he would clean himself, less painful than forcing it into him), it got his blood sugar up. Then we force fed him wet food/cooked meats. He ate normally the next day.

I hope your kitty is better today though.. Good luck.
