Anybody Know Why?

My 3 year old happy, healthy, cat licks plastic bags-she seems to especially love those from grocery stores and the like as well as the heavier plastic that covers soda or water bottle cases.  Does anyone know why she might do this?  I always forget to ask the Veterinarian.  She does not chew or try to eat the plastic, just seems to enjoy the flavor?  Any insights would be interesting.  Thanks.

My cat loves to lick photographs!!!  I think it has something to do with the chemicals they use to develop photos.  He also loves to chew on electrical cords....I think he was taken away from his mummy too early, and apparently it is common for cats who have been abandoned too early to have these kinds of unique behaviour!  Was your cat abandoned from his mum too early?

My goodness finally someone else with the same problem!!!!!! My cat LOVES PLASTIC he eates plastic bags from the store, ziplocs trash bags even the liner of the shower curtain it drives me nuts. He will eat the whole thing if i dont find out about it.I tell him no all the time. I dont know why he does it. I though he was trying to get my attention but i think he is just nuts!! He just likes it. Wish he would stuff i have to plastic proof the house!

Heh heh...Ive got a big orange guy who hen I lie down at night walks up my body (always placing a big paw RIGHT in my groin then solar plexus) and lays down on top of me with his nose tip t my nose.

It would be sweet if he wasn't so heavy and didn't have such wicked cat breath!

Thanks for your input.  Aren't cats wonderful!?!  I tried and tried earlier to get her to sit on my lap....NO DEAL.  Then as soon as I get to the computer she just HAS to get on my lap, keyboard, etc.   Argh is right.......wouldn't trade her for the world though.   Happy New Year to All !!!

This one seems to view the keyboard as a hindrance to get on my lap. Orange cat have no concept of Internet etiquette! :)

Argh...speaking of cats, the above is a big orange annoyance's fault!

cont... two theories I have: 1: Cats like petroleum based things. 2: They use a type of corn starch to keep the bags from sticking together (light powdering). They like the taste of that as well.

Something must taste good to her. :) Who knows? I have a cat who likes to chew on plastic bags. I think she likes the crinkly sound it makes or something. Our pets can just have quirky behavior, I guess. Sort of like us humans! :)
