Bob still trying.

Bob's about a 3 on a scale of 10 today. he would have been about a 7 yesterday. He did come down to participate in our lunch ritual but only attempted to eat, looked sad, and went under the kitchen table. Then almost failed in trying to jump up on a chair-I made him a little fort w/2 chairs so he could see out but have some privacy; later brought him back upstairs to the humidifier. He's still drinking on his own but clearly not breathing easy yet. Am  I just expecting too much too fast? it is pneumonia after all, and I never recovered in a day or 2 when I had it..I don't want him to suffer but if he can be saved, of course that's what I want to do-he's a key part of our home, as are all our cats.
Thanks again for all the support and tips-they've been invaluable.

So worried about Heidi!! Hoping for the best.

Bob seems to be better yet. He wasn't wanting his food, it looked like he recognised it ought to be food but he didn't smell anything when he sniffed it so he gave up. I syringed the gravy to him but wanted to get something substantial in him. I found sardines packed in water that are low sodium and after getting the ok from my vet offered these stinky things to him and happily they were a hit!! He only eats a few nibbles at a time, but will come and ask for more when he's ready (he's talking again!! so happy to hear his little voice!) and he's starting to do his nails and stretch, he's showing Spirit affection and visiting both Ed and I as he sees fit. No more hiding under the bed w/the blank stare, much less coughing and no more of that scary gasping. i'm religious about his meds and he's getting tired of that-but i take that as a good sign too-instead of just lethargically letting me do what i have to do he's arguing w/me now. I'm still counting every day as a gift-believe me!!

Oh, Thank God!  Maybe the crisis is over!  After I just posted about Heidi, I saw that you had posted about Bob...and I feared the worst.  I am so happy that he seems to have made a turnaround.  Sounds like he's going to be fine!

Thanks, spirit for the good thoughts for Heidi.  I hope she comes home too...if she can!

Oh gosh-hope Heidi is ok and comes home-what a terrible feeling!!! Bob's blood work was clear, he had nebulizer treatments and antibiotic treatments while @ the vet, i'm giving him orbax and a diuretic to help his little heart-the vet's concern was that he may have a heat problem we didn't know about and now it's being strained by the illness. Good news: today he came downstairs to visit my fiance in the tv room, looked at the birdy window, generally checked things out (he's been in the upstairs bedroom for about a day and 1/2) and that seems to have tuckered him out for right now, so he's napping again. He seemed much more interactive than yesterday-looking @ my face when i spoke to him & such instead of the blank stare or turning away. We can only do our best for him and take it a day at a time.
Thinking good thoughts and hoping Heidi ok and comes home-let us know!!

Spirit, I was just re-reading your posts and I think maybe you should see about getting him an antibiotic shot.  He's had this awhile and I think he's getting weaker. Did the Vet actually see him?  Maybe I'm just getting paranoid, worrying about my cat.  Opus, it's Heidi...
