That icky white foam is bile. It usually is excreted before a fur ball comes out or before they can get the fur ball into the digestive system. And can be spontaneous without wrenching.
All cats and dogs should be wormed 2x a year. Even if they are indoor cats. They tend to sniff and lick odd 'things' when you are looking.
Vomiting can occur for several reasons; change in cat food, change in environment (even moving the furniture), shampooing carpets, moving to a new place, stress from their human companions...etc.
There is also hairballs...even if your cat is a shorthair, they still get fur balls if they are not groomed.
TO CATRUS: you should try to give her some soft/wet food...not much. or give her some burger/rice mix no seasonings. Also...was she or is she an indoor/outdoor cat? does she hunt?
This is important to know.
I assume you give worming tablets to your cat? This simple treatment usually puts vommiting to rest for a few months with my cats.
my cat is vommiting repeatedly a mushy pile of cat food. she eats dry food she is still playing and drinking and acting normal. she seems to be eating more often than usual what could be wrong.
thanks guys, simba doesn't really get fir balls, he really doesn't shed that much... the times he has had something in his throat he retches like crazy....
this vommiting is more like he just opens his mouth and it comes pouring out. no struggle at all. its very strange! still i do think you are right that he could have something in his throat. he hasn't thrown up again so if he does it one more time in he goes... his behavior is normal and he doesn't seem to be in any pain or anything... soooooo i'm guessing it could be his IBD, so i gave him his meds for that.
i'll probably bring him in anyway in a few days to get his yearly bloods... and then i'll ask the doc about it...
when i find out what the doc says, i'll try to repost so folks know what kinds of things cause that type of vomitting/regurgatation...
thanks again,
sandi
ps if any one else has other ideas please post...
Could be a hair ball blocking the food from going down properly. The only way to find out what's going on with the little guy is probably a trip to the Vet. If yours is anything like mine, that would be enough to scare the fur ball or whatever it is right out of him! (g)
Let us know what happens.
Jack
He might be trying to pass a hair ball you could give a liitle vasaline also my dog use to have spontanious regurge, I don't know if cats can have that or not but vet said it was fine and she would out grow it and she did
