Piccolo had 90% of his colon and rectum removed this past February after several years of livingAdvanced care directives with megacolon that was treated with Cipraside and Lactalose - the surgery has been a belssing for his overall health and mentalMental retardation Mental status tests attitude - we haven't regretted the decision. However, it does have one draw back and that is that since he hasn't any holding capacity - he gets a bit of a build up on the bottom and he becomes a bit stinky. He's a big boy (20 lbs) so bathing in the sink is tough for me - he hates diaper wipes as well. Any suggestions or experience with how to keep him clean would be so appreicated. Many thanks from kittycatcompound and Piccolo.
how good of you to go to such lengths to keep Piccolo with you.
I didn't realize it was possible to do this surgery on an animalAnimal shape vitamins Animal shape vitamins with iron!
lacolose isn't fun to have to give...I know...not only do they hate it...but that sticky mess on their fur afterwards is miserable.
I'm sorry I can't be very helpful wth the cleaning issue, other than 2 say perhaps the baby wipes are irritating 2 his bottom??
could you try a damp paper towel...maybe moisten with a very small bit of olive oil (or vaseline?)for lubricantLubricant eye drops???..
talk 2 your vet...mine is real good abt tons of free advice over the phone....ask if he needs a 'bit' of 'hairball remedy' that would soften his stools slightly so they aren't so sticky??
again speak with the vet they should have some answers for you.
best of luck there with 'littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummys' piccolo...I imagine he's real hard to get into the old sink...I would use a mat in the bath tub(kitties need solid footing) and a handHand or foot spasms Hand tremor held shower ...much easier than the sink....the shower can be set at a very low flow and the kitties don't mind it so much cause they aren't sitting in water...(I do clean well after)
Please keep posting and let us know how he is making out...I am really amazed by all this
