Cat Bite Rabies????

I was bit by a friends cat who has never been vaccinated in her life the cat was 13 yrs old. The cat is now passed away and i was bit pretty bad so i am worried about rabies but the docs said they wont give me the rabies shot. Wondering what i can do??

I don't think they will give a rabies shot unless the cat is a positive rabies carrier. what did the cat die from? was it an indoor pet or one that ran loose? how long ago was this bite?
