Cat has been throwing up all day

My cat has been throwing up since this afternoon, she is quite old (and has suffered with ear problems for a long time, she went to the vet yesterday for a check up on her ear). I have never seen her throw up this much and it is worrying me that something is wrong, she just seems to be throwing up a white foam(?) liquid and can't keep any food down. She keeps trying to moisture her mouth and I can tell she is having difficulty swallowing/has a sore throat now(?), I'm guessing this is because she has been throwing up/retching throughout the day. She's not even laying down in her bed - she is usually asleep by now - and even throughout the day she hasn't been laying down in her bed. I'm really worried that she is suffering from something serious and I feel like I should stay up with her during the night to make sure she is fine.

I found this video on how to give medications via dropper or syringe...its the same procedure to give all liquids...very informative.

here are some instructions....I will also try and find a video to show how to do this properly, but you must get her hydrated asap.

just wanted to clarify a 'full dropper full' every hour, do NOT give full dropper all at once...just a few drops at a time...slowly giving her a full dropper full in total...

was she given any medication or tests procedures while at the clinic???

I'm having a hard time understanding why she began vomiting after returning home....

its a good sign that she hasn't vomited more this a.m.....there is something really wrong with your kitty, to be vomiting and having the breathing problems you are describing, if she has another episode such as that I would rush her into an emergency Vet if possible...

she needs fluids drastically after all that vomiting she will be dehydrated and this can lead to cardiac arrest.....do you have a dropper of some kind in the house, so you can give her water if she won't drink on her own? small drops very slowly so she completely swallows...administer drops on the side of her mouth near the back molars...she will need to be given at least a full dropper full every hour. are you able to do this????

otherwise if no longer vomiting and holding down some plain water, than just wait and see what she's like on Monday at her risk.....there should be an emergency number you can call for advice?
If she is willing try some very plain food for her today.....can you make some chicken broth? with tiny amount of chicken pieces...but mainly the broth. or jar of plain chicken baby food...something so she gets fluids and protein...and holds it down.

keep us posted♥

She stopped throwing up at probably around 10am this morning. I stayed up with her during the night, she had some difficulty breathing/it was louder than usual and occasionally she would sit there with her mouth slightly open (sometimes her tongue stuck out). Occasionally, her face/ears would twitch too.

I gave her a small portion of cat milk earlier as she wasn't keen on drinking water and she has had a few organic cat chicken biscuits and has kept it down so far.

There is a lot of snow here and the vets near me are closed, what should I do? Do you think she will be better now or should I get her to the vets asap on Monday?

I agree.  Please take your kitty to the vet!

Hello & Welcome...

If I were you, I would rush kitty back to the vet.  The vomiting of foam sounds like possible heart failure....or something is in her throat she can't get out which could be as simple as a hairball...or something as serious as ingesting something poisonous.  I really don't know, but I wouldn't wait for someone else to answer, as it can be slow on Fridays and weekends here, so just go!

Good luck and please post an update...
