Cat repeatedly gets stuck on roof and I don't know how to get her to stop. Please Help!

My cat has gotten stuck on the roof of my apartment complex for the past 3 days now. I can see an obvious way of how she got up and yet she can't figure out how to get down. I have had to climb up to my neighbor's balcony to get her down twice and now she is up there again, crying incessantly. I tried to keep her inside, but she always seems to slip out. Should I leave her there for a while or is there anything I can do to train her not to go up there? Please. I'm going out of my mind.

Buy some nasty-smelling cat deterrent (nasty smelling for the cat). Then get her off the roof and spray the deterrent along the path she usually takes to the roof.

Or you might try using some aluminum foil (weighted down or maybe use some masking tape?) on the pathway to the roof, as your cat likely will not want to walk on it.  Is there some other place you think she might enjoy exploring that you could encourage her to go instead?

My previous cat loved to do this too. He would stay on the ruff till he was ready to go down. He loved lying on the sun and could stay there for 4-5 hours. Later on we discovered he had leukemia and we lost him. I guess this was his secret pleasure.
When he was younger and didn't know how to get down we had to use water from the house. But when he got older he could get on and off the ruff by himself.

My kitty ends up on the roof (being bullied by the birds) every time she gets out. There is just something drawing her towards high spots.. It is possible to chat her down, but she refuses to come near us outside, so now she is being kept indoors. That was our solution. Safer that way, too many foxes, dogs and cars around..

I agree with margypops though, they come down when they are ready.
