Cat spasms and teeth grinding

Hello. I have a cat we adopted from domestic animal services. He is about a year old from what they tell us since we have had him he has always twitched a lot and ground his teeth when either sleeping or relaxing. It seems like he is shivering or spasming lightly but only when he touches me he sleeps right beside me so when he is touching me and shivering I can feel it. When he isn't touching me he isn't shivering. It's weird. And if I pet him he tries to bite me while lying down, but is otherwise extremely affectionate and "needy." he often attempts to climb onto our shoulders or into our arms to be held and pet, and purr; however, sometimes when he seeks this attention, he'll bite my face/head/shoulder, although he climbed onto me. Do I need to be concerned about some kind of neurological disorder?

When we adopted him, they said he was 9 months old. (this was back in June). He saw a vet then, and was neutered. He's done the teeth-grinding since the day we got him.

hi and welcome....we are not Vets on this part of the site only pet owners as yourself..congrats for getting your boy from a shelter, he will give you many years of love..

I will try and address your question, I wouldn't worry abt any neurological disorder unless the spasms become full blown seizures....some light twitching is quite normal, the shivering or spasms when he touches you could just be a 'male' thing, same with the small nips he gives....I have a boy that does this too. Is your kitty neutered? even after neutering some males will do this especially around a female (even human females)..IMO this can occur if the neutering was done after they've turned 6-7 months old and have already gotten the mating urge. Nothing to be concerned abt if it bothers you than discourage him laying beside you.

as far as the teeth grinding, that could indicate some dental pain, although he is a little young to be having teeth issues, have you had him examined by a Vet? did he look at his teeth?
