One year I ended up putting my vacuum cleaner and my old vacuum cleaner by the tree. They stayed away but it wasnt terribly attractive. I have tried the spray stuff but it keeps my hubby away too. He actually put on a gas mask to come into the living room. Haha it wasnt that bad. But it didnt work anyway. Im hoping some day they will grow out of it. We got a real tree one year and they didnt like it as much because the branches were more prickly. But turns out my husband had a bad allergic reaction to it. He broke out in hives. So Im stumped. I just put it up and shoo them away when I see them. They are pretty obedient when I tell them to get down. But it doesnt stop them from going back. If anyone figures it out, let us know.
Probably is attractive because it is "new" and provides a good hiding place for the cat to play. If there is anything hanging, then the cat has some "toys" to knock down and bat around.
We aren't having a tree this year for some reason...
May be the bright colors that get their attention. It doesn't take much to get a cat's attention, especially if it's a new thing in the house. We don't have Xmas trees set up all year, so when they get to see a new shape with colors, well they want to investigate, play with it, and possibly mess it up to see what it is all about.
I am so insulted right now. My cat doesn't even look at my tree. I am starting to think that my decorations are not right, or good. Is this normal? All the cats at MH are attracted by Xmas trees, except mine. :(
