Wow that's good to know abt pork......but really kinda doubt one pork chop would cause all that trouble. Didn't you say they do go outdoors? If so there's many things they could have found out there.....at this time of year grass fertilizers and weed control products for example or antifreeze? Even some trainted meat left out somewhere?
Sure hope soon out of their systems and on road to recovery.....<3
The only thing I can think of is when Elmo knocked down the pork chops the other night one was missing and we still can't find the bone or remains of it. Pork unfortunately is bad bad for animals so they all are on an antibiotic. It can cause pancreatitis. I gave them all some of Gizmos & it helped tremendously although I'm scratched to hell. It will all be ok. I talked to the vet already this am and he's preparing 5 doses for each kitty and also some for Bosco. He has the runs and throw ups also. On a side note the chicken is still missing from about a month ago. LOL
they definitely ALL got into something they shouldn't have...:( not fun cleaning, hope tomorrow all is back to normal...
They ALL have diarrhea today......Its been a long day scooping poo
Thank you so much Opus. They prescribed Albon liquid to him. Got about 90% down him lol he only clawed me once. He just ate really good and drank. I will keep and eye on him & yes he will be dropped off Monday am at the vet. Just to make sure he is ok. Thank you for the food suggestions as well.
I gotta stress......any wet food is tons better than even the 'special' urinary dry food from the Vets...this stuff is so dehydrated that no amount of drinking will compensate, don't care what any Vet says!!
Gizmo, had a lot of gas before you removed the plug...he definitely ate something...I am not aware of any OTC diarrhea meds that are safe for cats:( again the PURE pumpkin may help to slow it down, but do watch for dehydration when the diarrhea is really bad, he may need a Vet visit before Mon. :( possibly food poisoning from something?
((hugs)) to Gizmo
The vet called he's going to start him on some antibiotics . Not sure what one yet. Will go and pick up at the vet office here in about an hour. He said it's an intestinal infection.
Well now he has massive diarrhea and sounds like a sick person on the toilet. There was a little bit of blood in it. I have a call out to the vet. Wanting to see if there is anything I can give him over the counter for the diarrhea. He def will have a visit Monday am to see what's going on. He's eating and drinking and acting fine. He gets outside and God knows what he ate. I'll keep you posted. I do feed a mix of wet and dry food. They are all males so they all have a special urinary food they eat ( dry) and then I give them some friskies wet canned food a few times a week. I make sure they drink plenty of water. They love ice cubes!
must have wet food....CANNED food PLUS extra water, dry food just escalates the issue, no matter how much they drink.
you can try also letting him lick a small amount of unsalted butter off your finger...NOT margarine, and not salted butter. he needs the fats but not the salt nor the nasty margarine ingredients
you can also try some PURE pumpkin (not the pie filling) in his wet food, but have to be careful with this...it is fiber however if not enough fluids sometimes fiber can increase constipation..
good luck, poor little guy...
