I just got a new kitten (10 weeks old) on Monday. The girl who has been caring for her since she was born told me her eyes were a littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummys "goopy." They have gotten worse since then and she has also been sneezing. Tonight when I picked her up, I noticed a thick gel-like slimy substanceDrug abuse on one of her eye-balls. Could this mean she has an infection?
She has been meowing alot but I don't know if it's because of her eyes or because she's trying to get acclimated to our house. She plays, sleeps and eats well and other than the eye problem, she seems ok.
This is going to sound funny...but I bet it's Chlamidia (sp?). My kittens had this problem and when we took them to the vet, they were diagnosed with Chlamidia...the mother cat passed it on to them while she was pregnant. You have to get it treated...it's fairly easy to treat, but if untreated they can go blind, or worse. I'd DEFINITELY call the vet!!!
Like i said, It can be serious. As with any infection, if not treated it can spread! I have seen a simple eye infection spread very raipidly! And i work with MANY cats that only have one eye because somebody didnt want to take the time (and small amount of money) to help them!
