Feline mast cell tumor

Feline mast cell tumor

I have a male 11 yr old cat that had a rather large tumor removed surgically 2 wks ago. He did great however the report not so great The tumor (neck) came back mast cell tumor. My cat is otherwise healthy he is playing eating sleeping and bathroom normal. Vet has not really suggested anything except chemo and she (the vet) does not administer this So next step cat oncologist and we are in Nashville Tn I am not made of money but want my baby to have the best quality of life without any pain or discomfort. What can I do? I am so confused because he is acting like his old self. I did ask vet if she thought she got it all she said very unlikely but I do not know if it has spread or if it will come back real soon I need advice. Thank you

I am so sorry Leo for you and kitty, this is a huge decision you are now faced with....and one I hope I don't have to make again for a long time. I'm afraid yes the tumor will undoubtedly return and probably soon. I will give you a site where you can read and chat with others who have been through this with their kitties and can give you more helpful advice than we can...........always make your decision based on 'whats in the best interest of my kitty' and the quality of life..
please know our hearts are with you, come back and update us anytime♥
