HELP! CAT GUMS BLEEDING,GRINDING,SCRAPING SOUND WHEN SHE CHEWS

my cat marley stopped eating as much as she did. she would come out for meal times get to the bowl , sniff it and walk away. I took her to the vet , they gave her fluids , and an appetite stimulant. now I feel like an idiot. I bring her home feed her some baby food (ham) she eating it, and I noticed a scraping noise when she chews. its horrible and she only eats on her side. I feel so awful i didn't notice this before. she probably been so hungry . I took her to the vet again today to check out what was going on.... her gums are bleeding. her canine tooth is probably the one shes grinding in front. (explains the side chewing and licking). they gave her pain meds (something that starts with a "B" bupenax or something) . I am wondering what I can do for her. I don't know how this happened. I asked for antibiotic as well. he said to give her that in 2 days after the pain meds. I am scared its infected she was in such pain she was drooling. .  they said they won't operate because of the age and crf . so what now? does the tooth get better on its own? or is she on pain meds for the rest of her life? I wanted to know what everyone thought . when is it time? to consider the hard decision? I DON'T WANT TO GIVE UP ON HER BUT I DON'T WANT HER SUFFERING. HOW DO YOU KNOW WHEN? IF I HAD MY CHOICE SHE WOULD LIVE UNTIL 30 BUT what is that sign to look for? she is still coming out for food and drinking and purring when I snuggle her. sometimes i wonder if she is purely living for her heated bed . she hides her head alot.

Deepest sympathies on the loss of your beloved and long-time companion.  I lost my Rikki at New Year (he was only 10), so I can sympathise with your feellings right now. 24 is a wonderful age for any Cat.  I feel so cheated that I lost Rikki aged only ten.  I too had to make 'that' decision. You just KNOW whats the right thing to do, your heart guides you - it seems to reach out to your Cats heart and you just know what they want.  Once again, I'm very sorry for you loss.  Take care.  DiamondFox.

i wound up putting her to sleep she was 24 1/2 . her crf progressed and i guess it was the mouth ulcers they talk about. i was so sad driving home. but she was ready. i didn't want her to die on her own from renal failure.

Please take her to another vet. How old is she? Does she have any other health condition, besides her age, that would prevent her from getting that tooth removed? In my opinion you should take that poor thing to another vet. See what they think of this whole situation. Sounds like you are desperate to find a solution to your cat's problem. I am so sorry you both are going through this. I will keep you in my thoughts and wish for a happy ending.

Take good care of her.

hi....poor kitty I sympathize with her problems.....I would definitely suspect a tooth problem. you said the Vet won't consider surgery, not even a tooth extraction??????
HOW OLD IS MARLEY??
