Glad to know she is better. My cat had an eye injury when she was younger. Sometimes it is as simple as that but you did the right thing taking her in. :)
So Happy to hear Ms L is good to go! Can I hire you to put ointment in my cat's eyes-----I sure can't get a full dose into my Meezy! Congratulations!!
Update on Miss Liberty- (sorry it's a few days late) We are done with the ointment and her eye seems to look better! The majority of the haze/cloudiness is gone!!!! :-)
Welcome, full course of treatment is best for Liberty. Good on ya for forming such a bond of trust with her.
yeah....lotsa paws and hair!!!
BigA with the gooey ointment in her eye its likely just feeling icky and the vision would be fuzzy...likey won't change until your done with treatment. just keep a close watch on the eye, sometimes(rarely) there can be a reaction..since this is an antibiotic ointment and reactions can occur in any antibiotic...watch for worsening of condition/redness...if you see this contact your Vet.
She actually keeps that eye closed more now.. Will that get better once she gets used to the ointment? Its Terramycin. 2 times a day for 5 days.
She was pretty easy to raise. Was never really any good at lying! She has been a huge support to me. I still have the card she gave me when i was going thru wd's back in 2008.
Between all of us we have 4 dogs and 3 cats!!! Lots of paws and hair!!
I agree Sarah...we want to keep her on here too!!! :)
I see you met my daughter!! It is nice to see her in the cat forum and not the forum i am from!!!
Welcome honey!!! You're right, it's the ointment making her squint a little. After application, just close her eye Real Quick - like a millisecond is all it takes, then done!
Good Job! :)
welcome to our crazy cat forum....:) good for you for learning how to do this..sure hope Liberty's eye responds well and soon on the mend!! You are doing an awesome job for a new mommy:))
Hi everyone! I'm Liberty's mom and Dominosarah is my mom! Liberty seems to be doing pretty good. She is squinting a bit but I suppose I would to if I had to have ointment in my eye. She tolerates me applying it to her eye but when I have to "rub" it in, she tries to squirm a bit. Makes me feel good that she trusts me enough to apply the ointment beings I have only had her for about 9 months. I must be doing something right! :-)
We look forward to having her here~
My daughter has an account on MH so i told her about this thread i put up and read all your comments. I have a feeling she will be responding at some point!!
I only saw Liberty once on FB. Thought she was a new kitty of YOURS. Excited to see new photos!!
Please tell your daughter "excellent job!". I could Never medicate Jade by myself, so I am majorly impressed!
Update on Miss Liberty........My daughter is able to administer the ointment by herself!!! Liberty seems to be handling it well.
I am looking for some pics of her so stay tuned!! She is a beauty!
Happy to hear it's nothing serious, Sara. Those meds will fix Ms Liberty right up! Hopefully she will be as easy to administer to. Is it ointment or liquid? Jade used to accept ointment much better over liquid drops. Please update us once the meds are done.
Much love honey...xo
ADORABLE?????? You know what that means......PHOTO OP!
Let's see this little/big girl.
So happy to hear it is something that meds can take care of.....OF course I have tried giving EYE Meds to my girl, and I almost resorted to giving up and having her wear the ole "Pirate Patch" ARRRR!
Can you picture that??? She is so good but giving her meds is nearly impossible----she is a SQUIRMER . If you were in Rescue you know they are the worst. I swear some of the meanest little kits were better at giving meds to than those little angels with the acrobatic skills.
I usually have more meds on me and the floor .
Wishing you and Ms Liberty the best!
CML
Thank you for the comments!! Miss Liberty went to the vet this morning. The vet feels she injured it somehow, She is a very active little girl. She has some meds for her eye and i have been volunteered to help administer!!! He told my daughter what to watch for like the pink eyelid coming down?? ( I hope i got that right!) There was no sign of cataracts or anything out of the ordinary. My daughter adopted her from the Humane Society months ago and she is now up to a whooping 7.2 lbs!!! She is still young at a year and a half and very very adorable!!!
CML is right, its likely an eye infection/conjunctivitis...the vet will be able to tell once he takes a look at it, this is not uncommon...can be caused by a tiny scratch...eye drops will soon clear that up.
hopefully not glaucoma....let us know after the Vet visit....good luck

Hi Domino,
Well taking Liberty to see the vet is you best bet for figuring this out.
Is it the third eyelid protruding or is a film over the entire eye?
Conditions causing the eye to cloud over are numerous any where from an abrasion to the eye , to keratitis, glaucoma , cataracts, conjunctivitis , and allergies .It can also be a symptom of an underlying medical problem.
Please let us know what the doc says.
Godd luck to you and Liverty
