Hello! Beener needs help!!

Hi everyone sorry to drop in like this. I'll fill you all in later on my sad life these days but right now I need help with Beener. He has fleas. OMG does he have fleas. How did this happen? I don't have anything in the house tonight except dawn dish soap to bathe him with. I have dog flea spray but I know that's lethal to cats,,right? I'm not going to chance. My poor baby. I noticed a scab on him today that he scratched raw and is bleeding. Then I started to investigate and saw fleas. We treated the whole house this August 2 times because Bosco monster had them but the kitties didn't. Well they do. We got the Seresto collar for Bosco and that's worked great! I need to help Beener tonight. Somehow. My poor baby boy ,,he's 19 soon to be 20, senile and DEAF as a can be. Would it help if we shaved him also? Thanks so much for any input guys. I'll talk to you soon

Thank you so much! It's a lot easier to treat than fleas thank god! They die quick, I had blood all over my hand from them blowing up. The only thing I can think of how they got to him is from our one kitty that goes in and outside. They must have piggy backed on him. Also it's no threat to the dog or us either. Thank you again!

Well we are all heading that way!! Happens to the best of us. I sure hope I have someone to treat my "chewing lice" when I'm old and senile....and I am half way there.

Beener is so lucky to have a really caring , attentive mom in his old age.
May he have many more years with you--It's good to be senile-he knows nothing more than your love and attention.

All the best to you both

So funny, CML!  I'll be chewing my gums, probably.

Well they are not fleas. Beener has chewing lice. Thankfully it's easily treatable. The Vet said its because he's old and senile. I'm so sad for him.

Agree totally.  The warmth of the cat will pull the flea out of hiding, he or she will bite, and die.  One cat can pull and kill all the fleas in a house, even those under the carpet and in the sofa.  Combing the cat with a flea comb is a good one-two punch with the Frontline.  Good luck!

I dont think shave Beener would be a good idea. You did it once and,if Im not mistaken, the result was terrible for you both ;-) .About the fleas ,the only way I see is Frontline ,you can  use the spray for a faster result or the ones you apply on the neck - they are supposed to have a longer time effect ( the PLUS one)
If you cannot buy this just now, you can try removing and killing the fleas by hand, using a flea comb.Drown the fleas in a small glass with alcohol and later on thrown them away in the toilet.
Yes, this would be a lot of work  - more hard considering Beener situation  and a temporary  solution.
Hope he accepts you touching him
Im afraid you will need to buy Frontline ( or similar) for the dog as well, cos fleas are a damn insect that is there hidden even when you dont see them.
Good luck!
